how to create a festive DIY snowman using a recycled POM bottle
Here’s a simple way to make a DIY snowman out of a POM bottle (the round juice bottles make a perfect snowman shape!):
🧣 Materials You’ll Need
- Empty POM Wonderful bottle (washed and label removed)
- White acrylic paint or white spray paint
- Black and orange paint or markers (for face)
- Hot glue gun
- Small fabric scraps or ribbon (for scarf and hat)
- Black buttons or felt circles (for buttons and eyes)
- Mini pom-poms, pipe cleaners, or felt (optional decorations)
☃️ Steps
1. Prep the Bottle
- Wash the bottle well and remove the label (soak in warm soapy water for 10 minutes to loosen it).
- Dry completely.
2. Paint the Body
- Paint the entire bottle white with acrylic paint, or use white spray paint for even coverage.
- Let it dry completely. You may need 2–3 coats.
3. Add the Face
- Use black paint, permanent marker, or glued felt circles for the eyes and mouth.
- Use orange paint, felt, or a small piece of orange foam shaped like a carrot nose.
- Glue or draw it on near the bottle’s upper curve.
4. Make the Scarf
- Cut a strip of ribbon or fabric (around ½ inch wide) and tie it around the “neck” of the bottle between the two rounded parts.
- Fringe the ends with scissors for extra flair.
5. Add Buttons
- Glue black buttons, beads, or circles of black felt down the front of the bottle.
6. Top Hat or Beanie (optional)
- Top Hat: Cut a black paper circle for the brim and roll another strip for the hat top. Glue together and attach on top of the bottle cap.
- Beanie: Use a baby sock — cut the toe section off, roll the edge, and glue or tie with a ribbon to make a cute winter hat.
7. Decorate!
- Add small details like:
- Pipe cleaner arms
- Glitter spray for “snow”
- Tiny pom-poms as earmuffs (one on each side of the cap with a pipe cleaner arch)
💡 Optional Ideas
- Fill the bottle with white cotton balls, mini marshmallows, or fake snow for a fun look.
- Add a tea light inside (if you use a clear bottle and don’t paint it solidly) for a glowing snowman effect.
